For many local businesses, Google’s map pack is the first encounter — ahead of the website. A neglected Business Profile (still often called Google My Business) is the equivalent of a shopfront with the wrong hours on the door.
Get the boring facts identical
Name, address and phone number must match the website and the other listings you still appear on. Inconsistency is how Google loses confidence. Categories should describe the work you want, not every service you have ever offered.
Treat photos and posts as part of the product
Real photos of the premises, the team and the work outperform stock. Short posts for hours, offers and updates keep the profile from looking abandoned. Reviews should be asked for as a habit, not a campaign, and answered like a person.
Then connect it to the site
The profile should send people somewhere useful: a page that matches the service they searched, with a phone number that works on mobile. Local SEO is not a listing trick. It is the listing, the pages, and the enquiry path working as one.
